Hi everyone,

Only one week to go until BSides Belfast, and we’re really looking forward to seeing you all there! This is the tenth anniversary of BSides Belfast, and we’re hoping it’ll be a really special one.

First of all, if you haven’t already got a ticket, there are a few left, and remember that tickets need to be assigned in order to be usable on the day. And if you find yourself with too many unassigned tickets, feel free to mention us and the #bsidesbelfast26 on the social network of your choice and we’ll help making sure it goes to a good home!

We’re delighted to be back in the Europa Hotel again this year. If you haven’t been to our conference there in the last few years, you should know that registration will be upstairs next to the Piano Bar. You can get there by going up the spiral staircase or taking the lift from the lobby.

Registration opens at 8.30am but don’t worry if you’re coming later, we’ll have someone there at the desk all day. Once you’re registered you can go straight through to the Grand Ballroom which is where our sponsor stands, community tables, and of course coffee (and later lunch) will all be situated.

Talks start at 9.30am with the keynote on Track 1, which is on the ground floor. You can get there by the stairs at the back of the Grand Ballroom, or by going down the same way you came up from the lobby. You are going to need those stairs to get to track 2, which is in the Library Bar. Again this will be all very familiar to anyone who has been here before (and don’t worry, we’re pretty sure we’ve fixed the sound issues on track 2 this year. Probably.) The only change is that our workshops this year are in the Penthouse, which you will have to take the lifts to access.

On the subject of our workshops, we’re delighted to offer you three 90 minute sessions this year of hands-on information security. Spaces are limited, so we’re asking you to sign up in advance. Current attendees were already notified of how to sign up to these last week, but if you’re catching up on your ticket, reach out to admin@bsidesbelfast.org and we’ll get you signed up!

Two important notes:

  • Please only sign up if you plan to attend! We don’t want to have to turn people away and then have empty seats. On that note, if a session is full there is a waitlist, so if you find later you cannot attend please cancel your ticket.
  • Please check the prerequisites for each workshop – all three require you to bring a laptop, and they may require you to have specific software installed or accounts set up before the event.

The three workshops are:

  • 11.30am: Mobile Application Penetration Testing 101
  • 1.45pm: Inside the CSIRT: A Collaborative Live Incident Response Workshop
  • 3.40pm: Hands-On Threat Modelling: A Practical Workshop to Secure Your Product

Of course, we also have two tracks of talks, along with competitions being run by our community partners like Malware Village and Vuln Casa, hands-on hacking challenges from our friends at Atlantic Exploit Labs, and much more to look forward to. And of course we’ll have an afterparty at the Haymarket after the conference – wristbands will be available later in the day from our charity sticker sale stall.

So here’s looking forward to seeing you all, and to starting off the next ten years together!
